Marriott International continues its rapid expansion across Eastern Europe with the recent announcement of a new hotel in Russia. The 220-room Voronezh Marriott Hotel, scheduled to open in 2015 as part of a mixed-use development, will operate under a management agreement with Ojsc Tsum-Voronezh.
"We are thrilled to announce this great new addition to our portfolio in Russia and to continue to grow our flagship Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand here," said Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe. "We currently operate 14 hotels across Russia and see tremendous opportunity for continued growth across all of our brands in this incredible market."
Voronezh, located 500 kilometers south of Moscow, is a regional business hub where aviation, logistics and manufacturing are the mainstay industries. Tourism to the city is increasing given the city's relative proximity to Moscow on the main transport route, coupled with an attractive city center, lovely parks and public squares, and multitude of theaters, cinemas, monuments and churches.
With 660 square meters of flexible meeting space, including a column-free ballroom, and a dedicated business center, the hotel should prove popular with the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions market. Leisure facilities will include a health club with fitness center, sauna, steam room and spa treatment rooms.
Marriott Hotels and Resorts is Marriott International's (NYSE: MAR) signature and most widely distributed brand with over 85 hotels in Europe alone. There are currently 14 operating Marriott International-branded hotels in Russia.
