Upscale Kukui'ula Golf Club Hires New Head Golf Professional
(KOLOA, KAUAI, HAWAII) -- Brian Paul has been named head golf professional at the Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course at The Club at Kukui'ula on the island of Kaua'i. As head golf professional, Paul will oversee all golf operations, including retail and culinary services, club programming, staffing and member communications.
Most recently, Paul was director of golf at Stonebrae Country Club in Hayward, California (ranked fourth best private golf course by Golf Digest, 2008), which he opened and managed from its inception through 2009. Brian was also head of all golf operations at the exclusive StoneTree Golf Club in Marin County.
He gained notoriety as an associate golf pro at the Mayacama Golf Club in Sonoma wine country with its highly acclaimed Jack Nicklaus-designed course, and helped Mayacama earn "best new private course in America" honors from Golf Digest in 2003. Paul started his professional golf career in 1999 at the Montreux Golf & Country Club in Reno and became a PGA professional in 2002.
"Kukui'ula has done an amazing job fulfilling Tom Weiskopf's vision," Paul says. "They have combined an extreme attention to detail with a commitment to providing service excellence and, really, an atmosphere that will be appealing for players of all ages and skill levels. "I look forward to being part of the Kukui'ula team and contributing to the success of one of Hawai'i's truly masterful designs."
Kukui'ula signature 18-hole design is more challenging than traditional resort layouts. The 216-acre course takes full advantage of undulating terrain, prevailing trade winds, paspalum-turf and sand-plated fairways, resulting in a uniquely island-style golf experience. True to the course's plantation theme, holes play through orchards, gardens and native landscape with spectacular ocean views along the way.
The golf course and plantation-style clubhouse will debut in 2011.
Kukui'ula is being developed by Kukui'ula Development Company (Hawaii), LLC, an affiliate of DMB Associates, Inc. , a Scottsdale, Arizona-based diversified real estate development and investment firm, and an affiliate of A&B Properties, Inc., a subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc., one of Hawai'i's largest private landowners.
