Flea, the bass guitarist with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has listed his home on a Malibu bluff at slightly more than $13.6 million.
The rocker, also known as Michael Balzary, plans to move to a Los Feliz home he bought about a year ago and just finished restoring. At the same time, he is expecting to break ground on a home he aims to build on a Malibu site he also owns.
That site is where he had a home that was "burnt to a crisp," he said, during the 2007 Malibu fire. At the time, the home was on the market at $4.8 million.
It is the bluff-top home he is focusing on selling now, however, and he facetiously described it in the Los Angeles Times as "the beautifulest residence of mega-fun and peace."
The bluff-top house, built in 1980 on two flat acres, has an open floor plan with walls of glass and unobstructed ocean, coastline and beach views. The house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms in more than 2,700 square feet. A private road provides access to the water.
The property has expansive lawns, mature trees and two guest houses. There is a spa surrounded by a wooden observation deck. There is an outdoor living room plus a bar and a dining area.
Flea bought the home in 2006 for $9.98 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Flea, 46, is a founding member of the six-time Grammy-winning band, which has produced nine studio albums since it was established in 1983. Flea also founded the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which supports affordable music education for children.
A Lakers fan, Flea sang the national anthem and performed a guitar solo at a Houston Rockets play-off game.

Actor Connor Trinneer, the commander on the TV prequel "Star Trek: Enterprise," and his wife, Ariana, have sold their Franklin Village Craftsman for $1.1 million.
Trinneer, 40, played Charles "Trip" Tucker III on the series, which aired from 2001 to 2005. He also had a recurring role on "Stargate Atlantis" (2006-08), and this year, he guest-starred on "24" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
The house that sold has three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, beamed and coffered ceilings, leaded glass, wainscoting, inglenooks and more than 2,000 square feet of living space. The home also has two porches and a detached art studio.

David Niven, Jr. has put his Sunset Strip-area home on the market at $5.75 million.
The contemporary Mediterranean, built in 1967, has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 6,600 square feet.
David Niven Jr., 66, has a dozen producing credits and is former head of the William Morris Agency for Europe. He is former head of production for Columbia Pictures and Paramount Pictures, both based in London.
Niven Jr., played a British foreign minister in the film "Rush Hour 3" (2007). He was chairman emeritus of RADD (Recording Artists, Actors and Athletes Against Drunk Driving).
He is founder and chairman of the bicycle safety group "See a Child, Save a Child." He produced "The Eagle Has Landed" (1976).
To a fan, however, Niven Jr. always will be the eldest son of the charming actor David Niven Sr.
