(ABU DHABI, UAE) -- Mubadala Real Estate & Hospitality Unit (MREH) yesterday announced significant leasing success at Sowwah Square, the commercial heart of Abu Dhabi's future Central Business District at Sowwah Island and already home to the iconic Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).
Most of the first tower, comprising 40,400 square meters, is now leased with more than 13 regional and international firms committed to occupying prime Grade A space. The remaining space is in final negotiations. Tenants already signed up include international firms Gulf Capital, Abu Dhabi Finance, Booz & Company, Norton Rose, Herbert Smith, Baker Botts, Akin Gump, Latham & Watson, and Hogan & Hartson.
Peter Wilding, Executive Director of Mubadala Real Estate & Hospitality, said, "Sowwah Square is set to become an address synonymous with a seamless commitment to quality at every level, from the most efficient floor plates to providing all the amenities expected within such a prime location."
Large column-free interior floor plates provide what may be the most efficient office space available in Abu Dhabi, with high speed elevators and 5,200 parking spaces, compliant with the latest Urban Planning Council standards. MREH will apply for a high level LEED accreditation since the core and shell of the structure have already achieved Gold pre-certification.
The four Grade A office towers at Sowwah Square offer 183,000 square meters of space, with panoramic views of the city and overlooking the iconic ADX. Climate-controlled pedestrian corridors will connect the office towers and provide easy access to future metro and light rail stations. They will also connect to the state of the art Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and three world class hotels, the Rosewood Abu Dhabi and the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Sowwah Island. The Viceroy Hotel Group will develop a flagship hotel nearby.
Sowwah Square opens for business in early 2011. Two bridges already completed will provide fast and easy access to the current city center. Reaching Dubai and Abu Dhabi International Airport will also be easy via the new Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Bridge through Saadiyat Island and Yas Island.
