Al Ain Municipality has selected Abu Dhabi-based Aldar Properties PJSC to build the infrastructure for the Shiebat Al Watah development in Al Ain.
This new residential development is located approximately 10kms to the south of the Al Ain city centre. Aldar will carry out major infrastructure work to pave the way for the development of a residential neighborhood that will consist of 1,045 units for Emirati Nationals, in addition to a full range of educational, health and retail facilities.
The Department of Municipal Affairs - Al Ain Municipality has appointed Aldar to oversee the development. This project has also been reviewed and signed off by the Executive Council. All parties have set a construction timeline of 36 months to complete the development.
Key highlights of the infrastructure requirements include 41 kilometers of internal roads and pedestrian paths; a 45 kilometer water network system and a 32.5 kilometer sewerage system. Medium and low voltage power networks and a fiber optic telecommunication network are also being installed as part of the infrastructure needs.
An agreement to this effect was signed today by Dr. Matar Mohammed Saif Al Nu'aimi, General Manager of Al Ain Municipality, and Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chief Commercial Officer of Aldar Properties, in the presence of Rashid Mubarak Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, and Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Chairman of Aldar Properties.
Rashid Mubarak Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs said, "We believe that this public/private partnership will provide a conducive and welcoming environment for similar ventures establishing the foundations of a responsible future. This sort of infrastructure will support Al Ain city's dynamic growth, and will provide a sustainable and enhanced municipal services for the residents of the city."

Aldar had already finalized infrastructure for Shabhat neighborhood, south east of Al Ain. The development will provide housing units for UAE families. Both projects are key elements in Plan Al Ain 2030, which will guide the Garden City's evolution and long term development.
