CuisinArt Resort & Spa Acquires Temenos Golf Course

(RENDEZVOUS, ANGUILLA) -- CuisinArt Resort & Spa owner Leandro P. Rizzuto signed an agreement Sept. 6 with the bank and receiver for the purchase of foreclosed Temenos, a luxury development project composed of beachfront estate homes, luxury villas and $50 million Greg Norman designed 18-hole golf course and a hotel.

In a June 7, 2011 public auction, Rizzuto placed the highest bid on Temenos, which is located next to CuisinArt Resort on a four-mile stretch of Anguillan beach, after the property had fallen into receivership. CuisinArt Resort & Spa assumed ownership of the entire project in late August 2011. Subsequently, the resort will re-open on October 15, 2011 under its new name, CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa.

Under CuisinArt Resort management, the 275-acre beachfront property formerly known as Temenos will undergo a comprehensive restoration process to raise it to CuisinArt's five-star standards; initial efforts will focus on the beautification of the 7,063-yard championship golf course. Refurbishing the property's seawater reverse osmosis plant is a major component of this process, as the plant desalinates and purifies the water used on course, vastly improving the quality and thickness of the greens.

Improvements to the golf course will be followed by an upgrade of the property's on-site Mediterranean-styled clubhouse, which features 33,500 square feet of flexible event space, including an expansive terrace that boasts sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring island of St. Maarten. The clubhouse, which will offer morning coffee and pastries as well as a full bar and light grill menu during afternoon hours, will open along with the rest of the resort on October 15, 2011.

Future development plans also include the addition of a five-star full service restaurant within the clubhouse. Once renovations are unveiled, guests of CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa will be received at the new golf course entrance, and led to the resort's Grecian-inspired blue domed hotel entrance.

"Acquiring this spectacular property with its championship golf course and palatial clubhouse will allow us to offer our guests an even more comprehensive luxury experience," explained Stephane Zaharia, general manager for CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa. "It is an incredible achievement not only for our resort, but for the island of Anguilla as a whole, as it will further drive tourism to the island."

Though no plans are yet underway to reconstruct the existing luxury hotel and villa project, CuisinArt Resort executives are in discussions with qualified investors with a view toward future development.
