(COUNTY KILDARE, IRELAND) -- Firstlight The K Club was named a winner in the "Best Golf Development" category in the Europe & Africa Property Awards, in association with Bloomberg Television. The awards, which are part of the International Property Awards, recognize the best residential developments across the globe.
Firstlight The K Club is a world-class 550-acre resort in County Kildare, just south of Dublin. It has two championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer, noted for hosting the Ryder Cup in 2006, in addition to 14 European Opens. The K Club also has attracted the world's greatest golfers to its fairways - Tiger Woods to Darren Clarke to name a couple - and many of the world's most famous faces have visited the legendary retreat, including actors Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson and Michael Douglas, former U.S. Pres. George Bush, David and Victoria Beckham, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.
At the heart of the estate is a magnificent 18th century chateau-style hotel, which has itself received many accolades. It was the first resort in Ireland to attain 5-AA red star rating, and was voted Egon Ronay Irish Hotel of the Year 1997. Firstlight offers buyers the opportunity to buy into an exceptional lifestyle on the estate, with access to the two golf courses, award- winning spa, country pursuits and children's activity club, through shared ownership of the luxury properties in the grounds.
Project Director Catherine Monaghan says: "This award confirms the outstanding facilities and quality of the properties offered at The K Club and we are pleased to be a winner across the competitive Europe and African category."
Organizer Stuart Shield comments; "Every year we see entries from new countries keen to grab the limelight and, as this competition has proved over the years, innovation, flair, imagination and originality knows no bounds. This makes the results of the competition extremely exciting."
