(MUSCAT, OMAN) - Oman, the small country west of the UAE on the Arabian peninsula. is relying on sports to propel real estate development, something that is increasingly common these days as people's appetite for sports and entertainment grows. With the help of the government tourism and development agency called Omran, the country is preparing for the 2nd Asian Beach Games in December which involves the construction of Sports City in Mussanah.
The facility includes a marina with venues for beach sports, a four-star hotel, and conference facilities as well as a headquarters building for the Asian Beach Games managers.
After the Games, Omran expects that Sports City will attract future residential and commercial sports-related or sports-themed development.
To make sure that people living in the area welcome the Sports City project, Omran has been running local community days to entertain children with games and other activities while providing the grownups with general information about the construction and what happens once the games are over.
Omran hopes to develop awareness of Sports City while taking the opportunity to hear from residents about their expectations of benefits that the project will bring in to their communities.
Wael Al-Lawati, Omran's CEO, said, "With so much happening at the 2nd Asian Beach Games site in Mussanah this year, it is important to keep the local community informed," adding, "it is a very exciting time for Oman, and we want to share with the community the feeling of pride we have in being involved in such a significant project."
