(BOCAS DEL TORO, PANAMA) -- A growing trend in tourism is travelers are seeking destinations that offer more than just a chance to enjoy the beauty and peaceful nature of local beaches. They also want enriching eco-friendly experiences that truly connect them to the overall natural surroundings.
Red Frog Beach Rainforest Resort & Marina is one Panamanian island destination positioned to uniquely capitalize on these increasingly popular eco-tourism trends. To be sure, Red Frog Beach features one of the top-rated beaches in Central America, but Red Frog's developer also has a resort plan cognizant of this growing tourism demand with an emphasis on its many "natural" amenities.
Situated on Isla Bastimentos, approximately 30 miles from the border of Costa Rica, this island is renowned for its stunning beaches and lush rainforest as well as being home to Panama's national marine park. The activities offered at the resort include fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, hiking, bird watching, cave tours, and access to numerous Bocas del Toro surf spots.
A new amenity scheduled to be open later this summer that will highlight Red Frog's special environment is Bastimentos Sky Canopy Tour, a new zip line created by one of the top Costa Rican zip line design teams. The 2.5-hour elevated tour will include information about the island ecosystem and feature seven zip lines through the jungle (as high as 250 feet), a Tarzan swing and dramatic rainforest and ocean views.
"We want our guests to experience a Panama vacation at Red Frog Beach that is unique and meaningful," says Steven Bolton of Oceans Group International. "A wide variety of ocean, beach and jungle amenities at our resort enables guests to connect with Mother Nature in their own personal way."
Oceans Group International has made a number of changes to the initial resort plan that embraces this vision. For example, the resort includes extensive undeveloped land and natural beaches accessed by footpaths; a tropical garden with over 75 different indigenous fruits and plants graces the marina village entrance; and a resort recycling program is up and running.
Although construction continues at the 1,500-acre development, the Red Frog Beach Resort can currently accommodate guests in several finished luxurious villas with private pools that sleep 6-10 people, starting at $240 a night. The villas feature private plunge pools, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and expansive patios with full or partial Caribbean views.
Other accommodations at the resort include a completed surf and jungle hotel/hostel called Bocas Bound that is a perfect place for travelers on a tight budget.
Day visitors are also welcome to come and enjoy the water and rainforest activities at Red Frog Beach and the new zip line. The Red Frog Marina has also opened and is positioned to be a premier destination for the international boating community looking for a Panama marina in mostly hurricane-free Caribbean waters.
There are also two restaurants, an expansive open-air jungle lounge that features a bar, games, hammocks, movie area, and a future beach activity center and surf school.
For those interested in owning a piece of the resort's Bocas del Toro real estate, Red Frog is offering various real estate opportunities in the form of titled lots, finished villas, and private jungle lodges.
Most villas sleep 6-8 comfortably and are a 10-minute walk to both Turtle and Red Frog Beaches. Villas are currently priced from the $400,000s to the high $700,000s.
