Modernization will transform PNK Group's East Atlanta plant into an attractive destination for local workers and specialists.
In the upcoming months, PNK Group will finalize the modernization of its reinforced concrete and structural steel plant in Winder County, Georgia. This facility serves as the company's primary plant in the eastern region of the United States. The 60-year-old Winder Factories building will be revitalized to align with modern workplace standards and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery.
Two processes are concurrently underway. The plant, acquired by PNK Group just a year ago and dedicated to the comprehensive production of industrial building structures, is currently undergoing equipment installation and facility renovations. By April 2024, the company is expected to commence its reinforced concrete production and ramp up steel element manufacturing.
The modernization efforts encompass all aspects of the plant's operations. Final touches are being made to install a Voeller Mixers concrete batching plant and a new metalworking line from Dutch manufacturer Voortman. This line, integrated into a unified split system for automated and conveyorized production, will enhance efficiency. Voortman will also provide additional equipment, including a horizontal miter band sawing machine, a shot blasting machine, and a punching and shearing machine.
Moreover, PNK Group has upgraded its lifting equipment and acquired drilling, turning, and milling equipment, machinery for rebar works, and an automated line for deck production. German formworks for reinforced concrete column production from HOWAL have been procured, and orders for beds to produce reinforced concrete elements from a major specialized panel bed supplier are imminent.
With the modernization project in full swing, the plant is set to create numerous job opportunities for engineers, technicians, and workers. The revamped workspace, designed with employee comfort in mind, will include upgraded offices, a canteen offering free meals, improved changing rooms, showers, restrooms, and production facilities. These enhancements aim to provide a conducive and rewarding work environment for our future team members.
Furthermore, all engineering utilities, ventilation, heating, and lighting systems are undergoing complete renewal. The roof has already been repaired, and the installation of a new transformer and electrical panel equipment is expected to bolster the plant's electrical system reliability.
Winder Factories, strategically located within a complex of industrial buildings spanning approximately 400,000 square feet on a 75-acre land plot adjacent to the local airport, is a key asset for PNK Group. The structural elements manufactured here are easily transported by truck to construction sites within a 500-800-mile radius, making it a convenient hub for our operations. As the largest and most robust of PNK Group's two plants in the East, with the other located in Bethel Township, PA, these facilities are poised to serve as the foundation for future project kitting centers, offering potential partners a gateway to our expanding operations.
As an engineering and manufacturing pioneer, PNK Group spearheads technological advancements in industrial construction. The company's construction methodology, utilizing large-unit blocks, streamlines building assembly through precise element production, minimizing the need for extensive labor and heavy machinery.
