Texas' newest landmark building, the 56 story high-rise luxury condominium project called The Austonian opened its doors to its first homeowners this past week. It is located at the corner of 2nd Street and Congress Avenue in the heart of downtown Austin.

After two years of construction, The Austonian is now the tallest residential high rise in the western United States.

The incomparable height of The Austonian offers stunning views of the Texas Hill Country, the Texas State Capitol, the bustling 6th and 2nd Street districts and the parks of Lady Bird Lake along the Colorado River. The luxury building sets itself apart from other high-rise luxury condominiums by offering over 40,000 square feet of amenities on the 10th, 55th and 56th floors. These amenities are available exclusively to residents and their invited guests.

The 10th floor serves as the community entertaining and relaxing area, encompassing indoor and outdoor amenity spaces. Indoors, residents will find 6,000 square feet of entertainment areas including a billiard and game room, a 12-seat home theater room, an executive conference and meeting room, four private guest suites and spa treatment rooms.

Outside on the 10th floor is The Lawn, a 12,000 square-foot area that is home to a saltwater whirlpool spa, a 75-foot saltwater swimming pool surrounded by private cabanas equipped with HD flat-screen televisions, and two outdoor kitchens with gas grills. For pet owners, there's a 600-square foot dog park with synthetic grass and an adjacent pet grooming area.

The 55th floor houses an entertainment space suitable for events ranging from private dinners of 12 to large events for 250 people. The highest level of the building, 56, features a fitness center with state-of-the-art exercise equipment, yoga and Pilates areas, and 360-degree views of Austin and the surrounding Texas Hill Country.

Respect for the environment and Austin's culture is a cornerstone of the project, which incorporates green features throughout its design. The project is pursuing a four-star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building program, which is equivalent to a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold rating. The high-rise project is high density, with an elliptical design that reduces the amount of material required for construction. Green building material choices are complemented by elements of the project that promote sustainability including a rooftop garden, on-site recycling and irrigation with reclaimed water.

A building dedication is planned for the fall.

"We are delighted to open The Austonian to our residents, many of whom have eagerly anticipated this milestone with our entire team," said Strategic Marketing Director, Terry Mitchell. "We're pleased to offer Austin a lifestyle and community experience that hasn't existed in our city before this moment."
