As one would expect, the media habits of techno-savvy travelers (those who, by self-report, are active users of the latest computer, gaming and entertainment technology) differ considerably from those who are less wired. Not surprisingly, more than half (56%) prefer to read newspapers online. People (8%) and Time (6%) top the list of their preferred magazines. They tend to watch the Fox (13%) and Discovery (12%) cable television networks more than all others, and listen to rock (45%), classic rock (42%) or top 40/pop music (39%).

Also as one would expect, they are active users of the Internet for a variety of applications beyond sending/receiving email as reflected in their online behavior. Fully seven out of ten use the Internet to search for information about travel experiences and travel service suppliers:
 

Surprisingly, next generation travelers are active participants in and contributors to general social networking sites, but less frequent visitors of travel-specific versions of social networking sites. Only one out of seven visits TripAdvisor:
